GenZ Library is a slang dictionary. It's built to just work — no sign-in, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number. This page honestly explains the small amount of data handled by third-party services (ads, analytics, payments).
This policy applies to the Gen Z Slang Dictionary mobile app (“GenZ Library”, “the app”, “we”) on iOS. By using the app you agree to the practices described below.
1. What we don't collect
GenZ Library requires no account and collects no personally identifying information such as your name, email, phone number or contacts. You can look up words, save favorites and add your own words without registering anything.
2. Data stored on your device
Some content is stored right on your device and is never sent to our servers:
- The words you heart (favorites);
- Words you add to your own dictionary;
- Your preferences (theme, language, display settings).
This is kept in the app's local storage (a Realm database on the device). When you delete the app, this data is removed from your device too.
3. Third-party services
The app is free and ad-supported. To run it we rely on a few reputable third-party services, which may automatically receive a limited amount of technical data:
Google AdMob (advertising)
We show ads via Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob may process device/advertising identifiers, IP address, device type and ad interactions. On iOS the app shows an App Tracking Transparency prompt so you can choose whether to allow tracking for personalized ads; if you decline, you still see ads, but non-personalized ones. Users in the EEA/UK are also shown a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform). See Google's Privacy Policy.
Firebase / Google Analytics for Firebase (analytics)
We use Firebase (by Google) to see anonymous, aggregated usage statistics — e.g. app opens, screens viewed, device type, OS version and general region. This helps us learn which features are useful and improve the app. We don't use this data to personally identify you.
Apple – In-App Purchases
Upgrades (Premium, VIP) are handled through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never receive or store your card or payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Wikipedia (reference content)
For some words, the app may fetch additional reference content from Wikipedia. These are standard web requests to Wikimedia's servers, governed by the Wikimedia Privacy Policy.
4. Advertising & your choices
- You can decline tracking right at the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- You can change it anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- You can reset your advertising identifier in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
- Upgrading to a paid plan (where available) removes ads from the app.
5. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact us so we can address it.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. The limited technical data above is processed only by the service providers themselves (Google, Apple, Wikimedia) to run ads, analytics and payments as described. We may disclose information if required by law.
7. Your rights
Since we don't keep a personal profile of you on our servers, most of your data stays under your control:
- Delete data: uninstall the app to erase all locally stored data (favorites, added words, settings).
- Ads: manage tracking and your advertising ID in iOS Settings as in section 4.
- Questions: email us (section 10) with any privacy request.
8. Storage & security
Data on your device is protected by iOS security. Network requests use encrypted (HTTPS) connections. That said, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The current version will be posted on this page with a “Last updated” date. Continuing to use the app means you accept the update.
